About Us...

From left to right: Dee Jay, David, Leila, and Lindsey

Hello everyone! We're the Randles. We make our home in Bloomington, Indiana and our heritage is from the Midwest as well. I thought you would like to get to know us before we embark on our journey together.

Leila (mom/author) - I believe that traveling around and discovering our culture will enrich my own and my children's educational experience. If you asked me several months ago if I would be making a career change like this, I would have laughed, because I was studying to get technology certifications to advance my career. I am glad that I listened to my inner voice and jumped at the opportunity of a lifetime to fulfill one of my true dreams!

David (dad) - David and I dated while attending Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. David was a Fine Arts major who played in a local pop band. After we earned our undergraduate degrees and MBAs from IU, we were married. Now, David works in the marketing department for a major company. He likes activities that embody various kinds of music, creative arts, and multimedia technology.

Dee Jay (son) - Dee Jay is a precocious 13 years old who loves playing video games, modeling clay and is a NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoys our travels most when we visit museums that have a lot of interactive exhibits. As we learn about our culture, he is developing an appreciation of the struggles of our race and taking pride in the contributions African Americans have made to the world.

Lindsey (daughter) - Lindsey is 5 years old. She enjoys the museums that have water!
